Nissan to get more electric by 2010

nissan-logo.gifNissan hasn’t struggled so much in the race for automotive electrification. This can be seen from the fact that they’ve only developed the Hypermini small electric vehicle and the Hybrid Altima. Still, at the Auto Show in New York 2008, Nissan unveiled the electric Cube concept, which is expected to be put into series production by 2010.

With the rising prices of oil, the current marketing trend for environmentally friendly vehicles, it is clear that a future market for electrified vehicles might turn out to be very profitable. What is more, advances in technology, especially that concerning batteries, makes an electric vehicle more economical. The Chief Executive from Nissan, Mr. Ghosn, anticipates that the market for electric vehicles will be fully developed by 2012, and he also hopes that governments will create tax incentives for those with zero-emission vehicles.
