Alfa Romeo develops its own platform for new models
As the latest rumors say, it seems like the Italians will develop a unique platform for the future generations and will
stop “borrowing” one from FIAT.
Not long time ago, it was believed that the 147 successor will use, as the new Lancia Delta, the Fiat Bravo’s platform. But, the engineers from Alfa gave away this solution after they realized it isn’t possible to build a light model on that platform. So, they preferred to modify it – this way C-Evo platform was born. But another problem appeared: the costs.
The single solution would be to produce this platform in as many exemplars as possible in order to be used by the successor of 159, Brera and Spyder as well.
Anyway, the producer from Milano made a big step, one made by Mazda as well, because reducing the weight, real sport cars will appear again.
