K07 Spyder

Every year at the Auto Show in Geneva we can find particular cars which are designed by independent automakers. This year, the K07 Spyder was unveiled.

The designer Ken Okuyama has come with two vehicles, the K08 Coupe, which is seen mostly as a design exercise, and the KO7, which will be sold sometime in 2008.

The interesting thing is that this concept was created in only 6 months. The body is made from carbon fiber and stamped aluminum. The type of propulsor is still unkown, and the car might be equipped with a 2ZZ from Toyota, which is a 2 liter engine that outputs 250 HP, but a V6 is also a possibility.

The production of the KO7 will probably begin later this year, but only 99 cars will be made, at the price of 150.000$. Still, officials say that the car won’t be sold outside of Japan, but that we will see more models at the future auto shows.

New York 2008: Pontiac Solstice Targa

There have recently been rumours that the Pontiac Solstice Targa, a two-door car, will be unveilded at the Auto Show in New York.

The car will be made up of panels over the driver and the passenger seats which can be removed and placed inside the trunk. The configuration of this rooftop is still unknown, but all types of combinations are being taken into consideration.

It is said that the Solstice Targa will go into series production at the beginning of January 2009, with a maximum of 10.000 cars per year.

The Solstice GXP car is enjoyable, but the rooftop configuration was disappointing. So, maybe the Targa concept will fix this problem, while delivering a more fashionable car.

Mercedes CL 65 AMG from RENNtech

The Americans are used to the pretentious tuning of some top European models and this aspect is proven again by the people at RENNtech, who have recently tuned a Mercedes CL 65 AMG.

The German coupe was already equipped with 612 HP and 1000 Nm of torque, which were outputted by the 6 liter biturbo V12 engine, but the tuner from Florida wanted to prove that things can get better than that.

Finally, they reached 695 HP and 1207 Nm of torque, a colossal force handled by a 5 step automatic gear box and the set of posterior wheels.

Named “Stage 3″, the tuning costs only 18.990$(less than 10% of the inital price of the car), money for which you get a more potent intercooler, a sport exhaust system made from stainless steel and a set of air sockets made from carbon fiber.

Suzuki Concept Kizashi 3

The first Suzuki Kizashi Concept was shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show last year, and the car seemed to look like a large sport wagon. Then, at the auto show in Tokyo, the second version of this concept was presented. Now, at the Auto Show in New York, which will take place next month, the Kizashi 3 Concept will be presented, being the most likely model to enter series production.

The only thing we know about this concept is that it has the shape of a sports sedan, and promises to be a very performant Japanese four-door car. We’ll probably find out everything else when the car will be unveiled.

Rolls-Royce Phantom from Mutec

There is a series of billionaires which are unhappy because the long version of the Rolls Royce Phantom is only 25 cm longer than the normal one, which means that, at almost 6.10m, it can’t be called a full-stretch limo.

Especially for them there is a tuner, Mutec, which adds 100cm to the body and the windows between the front and the back door.

Mutec in an expert in transforming normal luxury cars into real instruments of power and masculinity, making longer (and optionally reinforced) any sedan you can think of.

Even a Phantom, which after being tuned reaches a length of 7m – enough to make people start taking pictures, and also to find a proper place to turn the vehicle around.

Bugati Veyron Hermes Special Edition

Actually, the new car is named Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes, and it was customized by Hermes and the designer Gabrielle Pezzini.

The particle “Fbg” from the name of the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes reminds us of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, the old address of the Hermes company.

Emile Hermes and Ettore Bugatti have been partners since the beginning of the century, Hermes being the main leather supplier and other exclusive accessories for Bugatti. For the new special edition, the designer Gabrielle Pezzini has reinterpreted the classic two tone style, dedicated to the famous 1924 Bugatti Type 35.

First of all, the wheels have a new design, and the specific Hermes “H” has been printed in the central spot, and the perforations from the extremities look like a seam – emblematic for Hermes’ field of activity.

The body of the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes is completely black, except the front hood and the rear flap, which are painted in beige, similar to the leather in the interior. Also, the front part is customized with the two additional air sockets and the horseshoe-shaped grill.

The interior is covered in bull leather. Some of the elements especially designed for those who enjoy the haute-couture fashion: the door’s handle, made in the style of a luxury travel bag, a leather wallet, specially designed by Hermes, a travel bag “Toile H” in the space designated for luggage. The surfaces which were normally covered in aluminum or carbon fiber are now completely covered in leather.

The car will be available by the end of 2008, for a price which starts at around 1.55 million € (without taxes).
