2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

2012 Camero z28

2012 Camero z28

After the Camaro Z28 was all but confirmed as fact rather then rumor (despite most folks already knowing it was on the way) by GM’s Karl Stracke, it looks like the this modern rendition of the Z28 is going to be a real stormer.

Word has it that it will use a 6.2L supercharged V8 packing an explosive 550+bhp, giving it enough horses to run with the likes of the Ford Mustang GT500, and at the same time possibly making buyers for the Ford take an extra moment to consider their purchase decision.

The Camaro Z28 is taking shape rapidly as the months pass, with an apparent scheduled release date of early 2011, we believe the car must be in its final stages of tweaking before oiling up the production line to starting putting the pieces together of one of the most exciting muscle cars we have seen for a little while.

Were expecting some more details on the specification anytime, along with some shots of the completed car, but we’re salivating already at the prospect of the Camaro Z28, with all the green focus currently taking over the motor industry its great to see monstrous muscle cars still being developed and put into production.

not its not. if om not mistaken the 2010 camaro came with 20s. its the same wheels from the vette zr1.

@ Lauren. Two things. First off this is a concept drawing. There is no word yet on how big the wheels will be. Second, Its called retro styling. A little bit of the old with a little bit of the new. I doubt the original 15 inch rims would be able to accommodate the huge 17 to 18 inch rotors that are going to be needed to stop a car with over 180 mph top speed. You have to give and take. You cant expect to have a 550+ hp engine and 15 inch wheels with 10 inch rotors. So to say its a disgrace to the Camaro Is absurd. If anything you could say the wheels are just not for you. That I get. What would you rather have?

WTF. I may be young at 21 years of age but I know a thing or two about the Z/28 camaro from back in the day and that it had a high torque high revving 302ci in it. Chevy’s engine department needs to stop being lazy and stop putting the 6.2L in everything. It’s in the Cadillac CTS-V (6.2L LSA), Corvette ZR-1 (6.2L LS9), Chevy Silverado SS, the Chevy Camaro SS (6.2L LS3), ect…need I go on. They are looking at the wrong competition when they are going after the mustang GT500. They need to make something that will compete with the new mustang BOSS 302 Ford is making. A 400hp high torque high revving 302ci with a race influenced suspension, aerodynamics, and brakes sounds like a fun and indestructible daily driver. This would be the way to go for Chevy.

I don’t want to sound like a troll but you’re not entirely right. This isn’t a Z28, but it would be a very good interpretation. It’s a hennesy, look at the rear quater panel, you’ll see the graphic and the rims hub caps have “H” Other then that I agree with you 100%, I myself have an ’09 Challenger SRT8 and I still don’t think mine will ever live up to the 70′s classics. The Challenger and Mustang keep the styling cues and the rest is just new age, the camaro only has subtle designing cues of its predecessors. My brother has a 2010 Camaro SS and let me tell you he was honestly ecstatic but there are a mile long list of problems, the visibility is bad, gear shift knob is chunky, interior is cheap but the engine is amazing, if chevy can live up to its legendary pony car, I’d trade in my challenger for a Z28

Its kind of a new age trim. Like we all remember in the 70′s 80′s and bits of the 90′s smaller was better. And as we start to shift into 2010 and later, we are all getting into much bigger wheels because we all want much bigger breaks, to stop our much larger horsepower numbers, under our lighter cars. I am not saying bigger is nessicarily better. I am british, but like the great words of Jeremy Clarkson “Speed doesn’t kill….it’s the sudden stop. That’s what get’s you.” Simply we have to have bigger wheels to hold our bigger breaks, which i want, and i fel is a must have.

The new camaro is a disgrace as previously stated. The Z28 should have a High Reving 302 in it. Trim down these cows and make a real Camaro. Unfortunately Ford has their shit together and is putting out an amazing product. Chevy what the shit?!

Why are sides of cars getting taller. It started with the F150 truck. I like the shorter glass look, but not at the cost of making the door a billboard and the space over the wheel opening and hood look bulky. May as well take a page from the Chrysler 300. Build a tank.

I love to buy one if it is available in an DCT or an automatic. They can get it from the CTS-V! Otherwise, it a “not sale”!

Get real I mean like said a concept do you realize what comes soon after the z28 I bet you don’t it’s called the chevelle ss plus all the mustangs have shitty blink spots think before you speak and not only that but the only car chevy has made for that can handle the biggest big block is the 1970 chevelle ss the true king
