The Flatmobile … move over Batman!
I am totally sure that now, you will all agree with me - we live in a crazy world! Proof needed? Ok! Meet Flatmobile, a vehicle that was officially recognized by the Guiness World Records as the lowest street car. More than this, the Flatmobile is completely legal, so you won’t have any problems with the law when taking this beauty outside for a insane ride. Can you imagine that this car is only 19 inch / 48 cm tall?
The construction of this British concept took about two years but it is worth it. It all started on 20-10-2006 with two donor Hillman Imps and it ended on 05-03-2008.
Here are some technical specifications:
Donor car -1963 Hillman Imp
30″ height sectioned out from body
Ground clearance -2″
Height-19″
Length-12′2″
Width-5′ 5″

It has a jet too? How the hell did all that fit into 19″? I think my transmission on my small sedan is taller than 19″

This car may coin a new way to pass another car, like an SUV or a truck: undertaking. Awesome.

That’s great, if I can’t find a parking spot, I’ll just park on your car

But they made it an open car, what a cop out!
Just kidding, fun custom…

Now all it needs to do is fly over the taller cars. :[

that is magic.
does the jet serve a purpose?
or is it just for the hell of it?
any chance of a video?

Where do you see a jet?

There is not a “jet” on this car. The 8th pic down is a turbo chager with a very short exhaust oulet and a spark plug to ignite
unburned fuel. This can be achieved on most any car and was pretty common back in the 50’s and yes it is pretty cool!

I think its pretty cool yet kinda stupid at the same time. why make a car that is flat? Think about it………. Kinda stupid. And You can only drive it on sunny days no top. Thats what i think.

Want one. Want one now.

Why make it? Because you can. It doesn’t have to have a purpose, it just needs to be something that the owners enjoy!

And by the way, I think it’s really cool.

The firemen would have a hard time looking for their upperbody in case of an accident with another vehicle.

Watch out for any slopes, otherwise the front and back ends will end up quite torn up.

This post is in response to Jay’s comment. That is a turbo, you are right. BUT!!!it is the main component of a home built turbine jet engine. It is not a flame thrower as in the fifties. Yes, that is a spark-plug as in a flame thrower set up. That is also a key component to a home built turbine. So ask your question again,,,where is the jet engine? Answer: you were looking at it but did not see the whole picture.

No problem. I hate to see a great work of engineering go without its deserved props. What kind of thrust does the jet make? I have always wanted to build a DIY jet motor but haven’t found the right project to justify one.

You know after taking another looking at this again and doing 5 min of research on how a turbine engine works this set up has all the properties of a turbine engine. Sorry to doubt, I understand how this setup works as a DIY turbine engine. Great job!

How much thrust does it creat?
