Volkswagen Park Assist Vision Concept

At the auto show in Hanovra Volkswagen presented a completely automatic parking system, which promises to park your car perfectly even in the tightest space.

Different from the semi-automatic “Park Assist” which is available on the Touran, Tiguan and Passat, the new “Park Assist Vision” allows a completely automatic perpendicular parking, and the driver doesn’t even have to be inside the car, being able to park the car through a remote control. This is very useful, especially when you want to park in a tight space, where exiting your car would be quite risky for the paint on the doors.

All the driver has to do is select the parking space on the interior monitor, to put the DSG in the “P”position and then if he wants he can leave the car. Once parked, the car turns off the engine and locks itself.

For this, Volkswagen uses two cameras which are placed in the rear view mirrors, another two in the front and in the back, parking sensors, electromechanical steering and a computer with a 2GHz processor which analyses in real time the video feed.
