The Russian Jet Powered Train
Back in the ’70s, Russian were making some tests on trains. A team of engineers from Kalininsky took a standard ER22 train, added two Yak-40 engines and named their new creation “SVL”.
And yes, it worked without a problem, it even reached the speed 249 km/h (180 miles/h). Given the fact that this happened back in the ’70s, this was an incredible speed, and still is a big speed for a train. Fortunately, it never went into mass production.

with ideeas the russian were always ahead of US and others in technology, to reach production ..that’s a different story.
ideea is good but look at the trains front(nose)…probably shaped with a hammer arround straight frame( curb glasses and frame would’nt be possible;)

Well… seems to be that human craziness can yield the most awesome results… I’m now trying to imagine how one of those jet-powered would roar and rush over the rails… looks amazing, you can bet!!!
