Geneva 2008: Rinspeed sQuba

Have you ever wanted to be like James Bond and save the world, walking under the water? Because of the Helvetians from Rinspeed, now your dream can become reality. The legend of Lotus Esprit that agent 007 was driving in the movie called “The Spy Who Love”, realized in 1977, will be reborn at Geneva where the sQuba concept will be presented.

Rinspeed sQuba is a vehicle that does not pollute, and it’s capable to run either on earth and water or 10m under the water.

Because of the Lotus chassis, sQuba can move on land like a cat and in the water it’s like a fish. The first step for making this car was that the engine based on gas was changed with an electrical one. The second step was making this car water-proof (we all know that we can’t combine water with electricity). The power comes from the lithium-ion batteries.

While driving under water, the car is propelled by two propellers with a SeaBob jet, positioned in the back and 2 fans positioned in the front. This concept also has three engines, one for land and two for water. The passengers of sQuba can easily breath with some Oxygen tubes, like the frogmen.
