Covini C6W – the car with 6 wheels
This “caterpillar” with several feet, will soon be available on the worldwide markets, being a really weird car with one unique feature: it has 6 wheels instead of 4.

30 Years of hard work were needed in order to create something like this, Feruccio Covini (its creator) presented for the first time his concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004. Covini C6W is a supercar with two places which will get into production by 2009, and will be distinguished through its 6 wheels. The power is provided by a 4.2 liter V8 which develops 420 HP at 6400 rpm and a torque of 2700 rpm, being transmitted to the back wheels through a gear box with six steps. Its weight of only 1150 kilograms will make this concept have an insane acceleration, combined with a maximum speed of 300 km/h.

I want to say its a shop only because of how retarded it is to put the extra wheels at the front of the car. I hope no one really spent any effort in creating a car like this.

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Can someone tell my why 4 steering wheels are needed on such a short wheelbase? That’s right, it isn’t needed. Besides adding rolling friction and angering Ackerman steering geometry, it apparently will help in braking and cornering. Why not go with meatier tires? Seems like a gimmick to me.

I wish it weren’t, but this car is real. I’ve seen other pics of the same car over several years in a number of places.
