BMW 750i Active-Hybrid
Of course, it is pretty hard to imagine how a Series 7 model which is equipped with a supercharged V8 can have something ecologic in it. This new concept is not totally eco friendly but, it has a fuel consumption with 15% less.
How did they do that? Well, BMW uses hybrid transmission from Mercedes S400i BlueHybrid. No, they haven’t borrowed technology from Mercedes, they developed it together. Basically, we are talking about an electrical engine integrated in the transmission, of only 20 HP and a torque of 210 Nm, which gets the power some Li-Ion batteries stored in the trunk.
The stored electricity comes from the latest version of BMW Brake Energy Regeneration, kinetic energy being the one which is transformed and stored in the perform batteries when braking. Although, at this moment we only have a concept car, it is expected to be launched next year. Then we’ll probably have details regarding its performance.
